Who We Are?

American Turkish Association of Indiana (ATA-IN) was founded in 2001. It is a non-political, public benefit organization founded to promote better understanding between the American and Turkish peoples through social, educational, cultural and charitable activities.

The organization completed its filings in 2002 to become a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt not-for-profit organization in line with the Internal Revenue Code of 1954. As of 2003 we have been approved for that status for federal and state tax purposes. Legal details can be reached by the following links.

ATA-IN is also to enriching Turkish-American community members? lives through statewide recreational, social, educational, and cultural activities. ATA-IN organizes get-togethers, monitors and responds to any misinformation about Turkey and maintains close relations with the umbrella organization ATAA and with other cultural organizations. ATA-IN also initiates and carries out various community-service projects.

ATA-IN is governed by an all volunteer Executive Committee and Board of Directors. Each year, half of the Board is elected for a two-year term. The President and Secretary are all elected for two-year terms.

The Board conducts the business of the Association through the committees it appoints and holds monthly meetings to coordinate its activities. These meetings are open to all ATA-IN members and guests are always welcome. A general assembly meeting is held each year in December. At this meeting annual reports are presented and elections for the Board of Directors and officers of ATA-IN are held.

President - Gunay Lynch

Gunay Lynch was born in Istanbul, Turkey. She learned banking at Shweizerishe Kredit Anstallt in Zurich, Switzerland, where she worked following 10 years in misc. major Swiss banks.

In 1991, Mrs. Lynch ended her career at Schweizerishes Volks Bank as Private Investment Banker and moved to USA to be with her husband.

Mrs. Lynch and her husband have two children. The whole family has been involved in American Turkish Association since 2002.
